Has anyone used the Trumpeter King Tiger kit to build an R/C tank? I picked one up for a real good price and I'm not sure if I want to build it as the model kit or use some of its parts along with a Taigen hull to build it R/C.
It's an AWESOME kit but right now I don't have the time to dedicate to building it so I can either R/C it or it sits till God only knows when.

Ausf rc'd their t34. I'd think the best bet would be to use an RC chassis and use the kit top and detail parts.

Good morning,
Tom has the right of it. Ausf made an astounding build out of the Trumpeter kit and a Tamiya lower hull. Some adjustment was required but as I recall, he said it was easily done.

That's why I was thinking about Taigen lower.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Yeah, I used the everything from the Tamiya M4: turret ring, motors, gearboxes, flash, etc. I eventually bought their Russian MFU to get the sound right (as well as brake lights).
The only thing I did to the Trumpeter hull was some aluminum angle for bracing, and 'K&S brass tubing and bolts for bearings and swing arm pivots.
Besides a servo for recoil, it's stock Tamiya and is probably my best battler.

Very cool! Well this will be my next project after my Jagdtiger is done, of which is waiting to get its IBU3 back from Ian.
Look like I'll have TONS of left over parts!

I'll second the Trumpeter kits. I managed to the fit one to a Taigen metal lower without much effort, and the level of detail is much better than you'd get out of a stock RTR tank.
