Good morning, or afternoon, wherever you are...

Doing a bit of reading this morning and stumbled across references to a Panther II project being worked on by M.A.N. as well as a Tiger III Henschel project. According to the small article, these two vehicles were to share a number of design concepts. That got me wondering if somebody else might have found more information on these projects.

You may want to look up the E-100 and E-50 or german E series tanks these were ideals being looked at at the end of ww2 on standardizing some of the parts on the next batch of tanks to come out in 1945 or 1946 if the war lasted that long  and Germany was still holding there own .

Thanks
Jimmy

Found these pictures on missing lynx.com for the Panther II. This Panther was to share components with a KT. Can't find anything for a Tiger III though. Look's like a nice conversion for a kitbasher/scratchbuilder HMMMMM I wonder  ;D.

Tiger III project was brought forward and Tiger II was scraped, Tiger III became Tiger II as we all know as King Tiger, E100 was a Super Heavy so shared only a small number of parts with Tiger II, Panther II was supposed to replace Panther A but as Tiger II was still in development Panther II was delayed Panther G was released and Panther F was just coming on line at the end of the war, there where two prototype chassis of Panther II which looked almost the same as a normal Panther with the exception of thicker armour 100mm on the glasses as opposed to 80mm on the normal version Panther was to use transport tracks from the Tiger II  as well as gearbox, engine, wheels and a single torsion bar as opposed to the normal twin torsion bar, at the end of the war a single Panther II was captured this is now on display in the US with a late Panther G turret which was placed on the Panther II by the Americans there are two pictures of Panther II being towed by the Americans with a weight in place of a turret these can be found in Panzer Wrecks initially Panther II would have had a 75mm L70 main gun which was to be replaced with the 88mm L71 used on Tiger II the overall weight was only slightly heavier than Panther G
