IBU2 Motor Current configuration

For some reason one of my IBU.ini files has a comment with regards to the motor current configuration and it says it can be a value of 1-20, but when I look at the IBU manual it clearly states that it should only go up to 15. So which one is right ? Here is except from the manual:

Configuring the maximum current supplied to the traction motors
Parameter: CurrentMotorTreshold = 10; [1..15]
Allows you to adjust the threshold of the current protection.
The default value is 10 amperes (for each motor) it is possible, in case of use of particular gearboxes or very
heavy tanks, to increase up to a maximum of 15 amperes the current supplied to each motor.

Is this simply a safe guard and has nothing to do with the amount of current going into each motor ? I have Promax 400s installed right now and during the last battle day I found it is somewhat under power. Would upping this value help with the lack of power ? Power motor scale is already set at a 100 (Can that be change ?) and the radio is set at 125% which is the highest available on Turnigy 9XR.

Regards,

Michael.

As far as I know with mine they only go up to 15, never seen 20 on any of mine.

Ian may be able to help you further as he's the IBU pro.

Earlier setup files did have descriptive text to help make the changes. Then after firmware 1.10 this was removed to keep a tidier easy to review setup text, and the instructions also covered everything anyway.

Again early ibu2 had a firmware protection level of up to 20a but this was later changed at firmware 1.10 to 15a as this was fine to power even 540 motors in tanks, and Tamiya trucks.

However this setting is only a electronic fuse in if it detects the motors demanding more than set value ie 10a it will shut engine down and wait 15 seconds before allowing to restart this is to protect the esc.

Power scale speed effects power to the motors and 100 is full power. So I say check battery is okay and no high resistance in the wiring or mechanical parts.

Thanks Ian for the explanation.
