Hello, Men,

For some reason, my gut keeps tellin' me that sending a used Li-Po battery through the regular post might not be the best idea. Am I justified for this gut-feeling, or am I being overly paranoid? Does anyone know of special restrictions or requirements for mailing used Li-Po bats? I'm going to sell a couple of tanks and I'd like to include the battery but it's been converted to Li-Po.

Thoughts? Comments? Helpful suggestions?

You can not send any battery through airmail. If they find it they send you the packet back.

You can send new batteries, how do you think hobbyking send batteries out? However I think used ones are a no no

Every parcel that I received from hobbyking had a big red sticker that said it contained batteries and it can not be shipped by plane. Also every parcel I bought at hobbyking with batteries takes way more time than the others with no batteries inside.

NO Lithium Batteries via Air Mail!

Some years ago a commercial flight caught fire in the Freight hold,
It burned through the control cables before the crew were aware of the fire,
The aircraft crashed killing all on board in the Florida Everglades.
After examining the wreckage and the Aircraft freight manifest the conclusion was that a consignment of "LI-PO" batteries had ignited either through rough handling when the box was being loaded onto the Aircraft or at some time whilst the freight was in transit to the Aircraft from the Airside Warehouse.
The carriage of "LI-PO" batteries in commercial Aircraft now comes under the same provisions as Ammunition/Mercury/Butane & Propane gases and other highly dangerous/corrosive/hazardous items of freight.

Different countries have different rules.

In UK if the lipo battery is connected to the device it can be posted. If just battery then not allowed

I think can airmail batteries but need to meet certain conditions, but I can't remember them at the moment.

The new regulations are that loose lithium batteries cannot be shipped on passenger aircraft, also lithium batteries must be shipped at 30% charge.
