Hi from across the pond

Hi Everyone,
My name is Roger and I use Rebel 1 as my call sign. As the subject states, I'm from the other side of the pond in the United States. I see people from all over the world here and I figured you could stand another American in your ranks. ;D

I got started in RC tanks with an old Tamiya M4 Sherman. I gutted a cheap Chinese 1/24th scale tank and used the airsoft gun and turret traverse motor and gear to my M4. I also have servo gun elevation. I'm using a 9 channel Flysky RC system and the tank doesn't have any sound or smoke. The original clutch system was in good working order so I decided to continue to use it. The clutch drive takes up quite a bit of room and that's why I don't have sound or smoke.

The tank is operating on three ESC's. One for the drive motors, one for turret rotation and the last one operates the airsoft gun. The 1/24th traverse motor doesn't work very well and I'm planning on replacing it with a servo for the turret traverse function. :D

Good morning,
Welcome to the Forum, Roger. Pictures of your tank when you get the chance, please. We love to chat and kick the virtual road wheels around here.

Thanks guys!!!

Hi Painless, I was checking out your 1/6 scale M5 Stuart yesterday. I'm also working on one. I will start a thread here and I could post a couple links to share my Tamiya M4 and my 1/6 scale M5. It would be a whole lot easier that trying to post all the photos and videos I have of those tanks.

Here's a couple links to my M4 and M5 builds on RC Groups Tank page. My M4 still needs a few small details to be added as well as decals and weathering. I'm working on more than one project and sometimes my builds take a while to get finished. My avatar is a crop of my Tamiya M4. Instead of using the stock turret I opted to use the M51 turret as kind of a what if build. The M51 turret looks somewhat like the T23 turret and I love the long 105mm French gun used by the Israeli's. I think the M4 Sherman could have done well if that gun was available in WW-II. ;D
