Sorry Guys,But really need some expert help/advcie Re RC 1/6

:{ A Big Hello to Everyone,
I must firstly make an apology to everyone,if my question as being answered before elsewhere on the forum?but I have being struggling grievously for some time now,re possibility of getting a 1/6th Tank Built for me. 8O.

I have sort of burned myself out,Re- just who else I can contact re this project.
will explain I have looked at possible VANTEX upgrade? but told not a good idea.then I was looking seriously at a German companies 1/10 offerings but they turned out mighty expensive by any gauge.ie nearly €5000 with smoke and sound!!way out of my league,I bracket them along with AMORTEK (UK) brilliant Models but only for a select few.

I have always in the back of my mind, had the distinct possibility of a Russian/Mark 1 Tank in my case a TIGER 1,I was looking at possibly 1/8 but Mark strongly advised going 1/6 for reasons I forget now.I just wished to keep the costs and weight down a bit if I could?

Now slightly controversially,I have received a lot of mixed messages re The Russian Fibre Glass Offerings? Now this of course is where my main problems lie !!! I am neither knowledgeable enough or in the large scale modelling loop, although I have tried really hard to get some unbiased advice, which to me is priceless. as well as tons of research around the web.

What I need & require is someone who is held in very high esteem & highly trusted in the Large Scale Tank World,to act as my guide,Someone who as his finger on the pulse ,knows whats good and whats not, and has lots of RC tank experience.I have little money to waste,so it is crucial I find some one to not only guide me but ideally Upgrade(where required) said tank.

IE Upgrading Sound/Electronics/Tank exterior Accessories? anything else felt will improve the overhaul effect.

The reason I ask this,is due to long term incapacity,I am not able to undertake detailed improvements,IE Painting/Weathering, Most electrical jobs, e.t.c.
Am not completely useless, and if push come to shove, My brother in Law lives upstairs so he can help me.But I certainly do not envisage more than one tank, to many things are against me, not least my age, my health. e.t.c so I am thinking lets get this right from the start.

Sorry to ramble on

Many thanks in Advance

All the Best
Steve

Hello Iposter,
Very grateful for you rapid reply, much appreciated.I to thought maybe the large scale fraternity on this forum maybe quite small, but was just hoping their maybe someone who might know of someone who might be able to directly help me?

please don`t think ill of me , but Forums scare the life out of me in general,just have never got used to the Forum format,and suppose I am to sensitive! :{ :{
try where possible to keep it one to one.

best wishes Steve

:{ 8O Sorry I forgot to add in my original post that I have had some contact with East Coast Armoury I admire his work, but as he said himself he only mods the (20th Century E.T.C.) American Sherman/Stuarts and it cost $2000 + no matter its an option, but would much prefer a Tiger if possible
some feedback on East Coast appreciated

all the best Steve

Hi I have seen loads of 1/6 scale tanks ,most are Mark One tanks , a few armortek and once the guys have painted them and done them up its hard to spot the difference from the outside .They both run well and sound the same (probably because they tend to have the same sound systems fitted) Price and weight is the big difference an armortek Tiger can weigh around 250lb and the Mark one around half that same goes for the price An armortek will cost around £5000 or more . the Mark one around half the price . Things to consider are can you get an armortek in the back of your car if its broken down ,can you push a 250lb beast up a ramp if not but you could do it with one half the weight I think the answer is you have to get a Mark one Tank. You could ask here http://www.uktank.org/phpbb3/index.php
Most of the guys on here are very helpful will probably be able to help you find a suitable model for you , they tend to sell tanks to each other rather than put them on Ebay. They also have meetings where you could go to before you buy one and see the tanks running and ask all the questions about which model would be best for you.

regards pete

Hello Pete, ;D
I really can not thank you enough ,for your superb and very encouraging reply,Your points about size and weight are well founded and thankfully I have taken this on board,I sort of came up with a sort of recovery system for broken down tanks it basically involves one of those Electric winches you buy for land rovers and others, so it can be attached to said tank and hauled back to base which in my case will be a Shed which my wife's family are building for me.of course have to work out the detail yet?

With regard to Mark 1 tanks as long as folk can recommend these tanks I am more than happy, all I need is positive feedback, which as not always being the case, and sent warning bells sounding!

all the best Steve

Here is another option you can look into. They are state side, but build quality tanks.

hello again Iposter
Below is the main reply you gave me back then, and as you will recall the thread started to implode about Quality of Mark 1 e.t.c.all quite negative stuff.
I am only trying to get to the truth ,hence my new thread.I do not wish to get embroiled (again) in all the neg stuff  .thats why I was looking at a fresh approach, the guy in Norway as been in touch with me but it went no where really.30000 Nok is about right no probs there.

all the best Steve

The Mark 1 tiger with the options (turret turning etc) is more like 2600 stg. Add on a few hundred minimum for transport, plus custom costs etc etc to Norway and your looking at the guts of 30000 NOK or even more I would imagine.
If I remeber correctly, there was a chap in Norway who had gotten hold of a large scale tank - I cannot for the life of me remember his name but he used to post on one of the two main forums and a Norwegian one (radiostyrt.no or something).
For what its worth and before splashing out on a Mark 1, I would be inclined to find a large scale tank in Norway and get in touch with the owner with a view towards finding out the plusses and minuses to owning one.
In addition, and no offence to mark 1, but I dont think they are top of the range. If you are not into constant maintenance then I doubt very much that you are going to be able to get the best out of a Mark 1.
