I said it wouldn't be long before the next daft question.
The Super Sherman is en-route from the Fatherland and I would like any recommendations please for a suitable transmitter up to about the £100 mark.

The generally accepted Transmitter for A TAMIYA 1/16 Tank is the "FUTABA 4 Channel",
But TOM HUGILL is the person with the expertise in matters TAMIYA

I would not spent any money in a 4 channel radio.

I use 8 channels radio and sometimes I need more even with the crappy and boring tamiya electronics.

You can program your radio to use the switches for triggering the functions, that is way easier and cooler than playing with the analog trims.and with more channels you can do plenty of things like activating more lights, switching on and off smoke, or even a moving machine gun, periscope or tank commander.

With a futaba 4ch you only can control the stock tamiya electronics until you get bored, which in my case was very very fast.

I use the Tamiya 4YWD-2.4 4 channel or the Futaba T4YF 2.4 with a two position switch added to fire the cannon and the machine gun. I think these are the same radios, they just have different names.

The so called Super Sherman is a nice kit. I have shortened the barrel by and inch and painted it OD.

If your just planning on using the transmitter for Tamiya electrics the futaba 4 channel (badged Tamiya) that comes with the Japanese domestic kit is excellent and has both sticks sprung which helps. However if you fancy something a little more complex and flexible that turnigy 9x series are brilliant. Receivers are cheap and everything works well

Fit a smartieparts board inside that transmitter and you have an astonishing radio way better than some 700 euros radio.

That's fantastic, thanks Tom. Do I have to mess about with it and change 'boards' etc or is that ready to go with my M51?
