It WILL fit

Picked up a few Graupner speed 400's that were going cheap. I've tried to fit 400 size motors into the little low profile type gearboxes before and found that the generic/taigen motors are generally far too long and so are the shafts. But if you sit a Graupner 400 next to a taigen motor you'll see that the Graupner motor is about 3mm shorter, which is nice.
You'll still need to shave a few mm off the shaft length if you want them to squeeze into a Panzer 3 chassis
As you can see in the pic above its a very tight squeeze, but they will fit, eventually, and give a definate performance increase

It's an all metal panzer 3 I'm using them in, yeah loads of torque and easily maintains a good scaled speed

Squeezed another pair into my other Pz3 chassis, this time with the little brass 5:1's. End result - a powerful but smooth running transmission
Please excuse the moly grease

Sitting these gearboxes side by side their very very similar. There's so little play in the black steels that the noise they make is not far off the brass GB's

Hi Had some of these fitted in a Tiger , the 6v motor speed 400 draw more amps than the 7,2v version ,it could fry an rx18 mine did but it was in a Tiger full metal lower, might be O.K. in a Panzer 3 hull. Little tip slide a piece of plastic between the terminals just in case the chassis flexes stop them touching the other motor.
regards pete

Thanks for the heads up bud. I actually have a piece of perspex between the motors in each chassis, took it out for the picture. One chassis is running through a Clark board while the other is now running on an IBU2.
