Eliminating electrical hissing noise?

Is something that is designed to eliminate hissing or a way to stop it? It happens only when the smoke unit is activated.
It is feeding off of the battery and has it's own step up going into the TARR. Not a huge issue but there is quite a bit of hissing noise going though the speaker when it is activated. Thanks:)

I only assume it's the same principal but we used to fit suppressor's to car radios years ago so you didn't ignition noise through the speakers so I'd guess some sort of suppressor would be available.

Del beat me to it. Look for a car radio noise suppression filter.

In line with the main positive wire to the radio but in your case since you know it's the smoker doing it I'd try in line with the positive wire for the smoker.
It's usually caused by a bad diode or rectifier in an alternator but since you don't have an alternator it must be something else.
While you're in there double check all the motors to make sure that little diode is still soldered to their cases securely. And being your trouble is coming from your smoker I'd bet it's come loose on the motor in it.

Check the cable routing too - it could just be EM interference.

I have it hooked up to an acoustic smoker..the little speaker for the acoustic is working with no hiss..it is just when the step up voltage regulator to smoke unit resistor is live it hisses..on all of my tanks set up that way. Based on that what would work best?

Then it must be from the step up. If you're using it on other tanks with no problems then it means that one is bad. It may be stepping up the voltage but it sounds like it's bleeding voltage too.

Interesting..it actually does it on the two tanks with the same brand step up type..the other one is almost quiet..so let me try and replace this type with the other step up and check. Thanks!
