Taigen infrared recoiling barrel

Purchased an early Taigen Tiger recoiling infrared top hull and turret. Barrel does not recoil properly. Shoot #1: moves maybe an 1/8"
Shoot#2: barrel kicks all the way back and stays. Shoot#3 barrel goes forward partially Shoot#4 goes forward rest of the way then cycle starts over.
SOOOO anyone else having this issue? Is this standard? Any fix-it ideas?

I am running an IBU2 board (shouldn't matter) Flash works fine and on time!

Just to much fun, Neal

Do you have the ground wire of the recoil/elevation unit connected to the negative terminal of your battery? It sounds like it's only triggering the motor on the fire command, and not getting power during the recoil cycle.

Sounds like you need to increase the recoil digital parameter on the memory card

Raminator, wired the unit as explained, 5 wire down to 3 but will double check. Tomhugill, will pull the card and check parameter.

Muchas Gracias amigos, Neal

tomhugill, what is parameter level I have Recoiltimeservo @ 4000 Recoiltimeservoreturn @ 2000 recoildigital time @ 500

Thanks, Neal

Neal, the only parameter that will affect the Taigen recoil is the RecoilDigitalTime. The other two are for servo recoils I believe.

500 is the default maybe try a bigger value perhaps ?

Michael C, bumped it up to 800 got a little worse. should the recoil kick all the way back and lock? That doesn't seem right. I wired it just as the IBU2 manual stated. What ground is Tomhugill mentioning? No reference to it in the manual.

How is the recoil supposed to act? Does it kickback then come back forward? I can't find a video .

FLASH is working great!!! Neal

Raminator is the one asking about the negative feed. In your Taigen turret, there should/might be thick red wire coming out of it (Thicker than the rest of the connecting wires) and it is suppose to be connected to the negative of the power (i.e. negative of the on/off switch) to reset the recoil motor to its starting position. I guess what Ram is saying that it sounds like your recoil motor is not starting at the default position, and everytime it recoils it moves a little bit (i.e. the recoiling is created by moving the barrel against the spring loaded gears, and when it reaches the apex (i.e. flash and sound) then it releases it gear and the spring is what creates the actual recoil).

There shouldn't be wires hanging out not connected. Also, what if you try to lower the value ?

MichaelC, tried 200 , only get the complete recoil and lock. The other shots do not move barrel.
Removed the turret, have a red wire with a connector that is free. will jump it to neg. side of battery and see what it will do.

MichaelC, Raminator, WELL ALRIGHTY!!! Its the RED wire. Recoils back and then moves forward now. Will tweak the time and see if I can get it not to hit so hard on recoil. Now if I can find a sensible way to wire it up. Hate having another wire to disconnect when I remove top hull.
Thanks for the help! Neal
