If you buy Sainsbury's Instant coffee apart from the Jars it is also available in 500 gramme Tubs,
There is a plastic lid BUT under that is a very thin, Peel off, patterned metal disc seal.
It can be cut to shape with scissors and is just right for treadplate's and because the metal is so soft you can easily tap in your own pattern if the existing one does not suit,
The tub when empty is very useful for storage of nuts and screws or whatever as it comes as I already mentioned with a plastic lid,
I reckon this is a win win.
In fact the only drawback is trying to find someone who will drink the brown muck.

If you saw how much "ABER" (£13.50 a pack) and others are charging for tread plate you would at least look at the stuff,
It can be easily shaped with a pair of scissors and It is thicker than ally foil but far more workable than tin, brass or other metal sheet, It comes in a size that will provide all you would need for a Panzer 4 and it really does not have a lot to do with the price ,
It is just that it is the right stuff.
My first Heng Long Panzer 4 came with all the tools moulded on the body and removing them meant that avoiding damage to the moulded tread plate pattern was not easy, this is a cheap and easy way to fix the problem.

When I did my M7 I used Milliput and pressed mesh into it to create the chequerplate effect, the advantage of this is that other details can be impressed like edges of hatches and handles. The original suggestion for this came from Woz and it works a treat. Alwyn
