Recently obtained a tiger tank and was thinking about adding both zimmerit and slat armour to it. Im almost certain the tiger tank never had caged armour but if it ever has i would like to know and maybe find some pictures of that.

Not sure what you mean by slat armour ?
If you mean like a Leo 2 or an M1 Abrams etc etc, then no, not seen any evidence of that kind of system on anything from WW2.

There was common use of extra armour plates(known as Schurzen) and wire mesh screens on PzIV tanks (Known as the Thoma screen) but the Tiger 1 had no known add on armour from a factory perspective at least.
Some had anti-aircraft straffing armour added over vents on the rear deck, as did other marques, but again, this was largely a field application.

But, if you want to do a Tiger 1 with slat armour as a "what if" build, then we will be happy to see it
I did a Panther with Zu-Fuss rockets on it as a what if, and no evidence exists of that either other than a few strange mounts on 2 vehicles.

i think he does mean schurzen herman and herman is right about it on a tiger. i do know some german tankers put steel plating on the top of the turret as some of the heavy russian mortars had the penetration on the thin top turret armour. though that would be a lucky shot ! wouldn't help it when the british jabos came calling ! lol.so stick to zimmerit on your tiger. (no pun intended!)
