Hi guys when it comes to paint the wheels on my Tiger 1 tank do I need to mask the outer black rubber on the wheels. My wheels are also the allen key bolt fastening wheels.

kj68,
If you have the metal 'early' Tiger wheels, the rubber rims should be detachable. If you have HL type 'early' wheels, there are plastic paint masking boards out there to enable you to spray the wheels and not the rims. If you are an antique like me, you might enjoy spraying the entire one piece type wheel then grabbing a hairy stick and some flat black, rubber undercoat for autos, spraying some in a cup and painting the rims by hand.
regards,
Painless

Hi Painless the wheels are moulded one piece so I could mask off the tyre and paint the inner wheel which is a piece of cake. I am going to take off one wheel at a time so I know where to put the wheel back. I have plenty of time and want to make sure the job is done properly and an undercoat will be applied as always before the main colour goes on. :D

You could always put some Matte Black paint in a shallow tray deep enough to only cover the "TYRES" and slowly and carefully roll the wheels through the paint in the tray, The wheels being paired will stay upright as you put them through the paint.
