Hi all,
I have picked up a detailing kit for my Tiger 1, from Schumo. The problem is, having never worked with this material before, how one should actually assemble such small parts that are difficult to see, let alone hold. Are there any tips or resources showing the kind of equipment and techniques needed?

Welcome along mate, I too would like the "Harry potter Wand" that many possess that makes Aber and Schumo brass look easy !

Chris, Hi, It is a fact of life that working with Photo-Etch is more challenging than the rest of your build,
I whenever possible use "Voyager" PE products they are less finicky than "ABER",
This is some of the tools I consider essential----
"Helping Hands" Which is a Frame with a central Magnifier and two crocodile clips at each end of a bar mounted on articulated arms,

A "Nimrod" Butane Gas Torch ( Instead of a Soldering Iron )( I use a "Nimrod" Solderpro-50K) used in conjunction with ----"Fryolux" Paint ( A Mixture of Solder and Flux )WARNING, VERY TOXIC!!!! This is very expensive but lasts forever.

A Fine Paint Brush to apply the Solder,

Tweezers, Including a pair of Reversible Action,

A set of Needle Files,

A Pair of TAMIYA Bending Pliars,

A Micro saw and a variety of different "EXACTO" Blades,

A set of Jewellers Screwdrivers

A Block of soft wood,

An abundance of small and large Dressmakers Pins.(Which holds the PE in place on the Wood Block)

A very good light source, ( I use a "LIGHTCRAFT" Flexible Magnifier Lamp )

A Coffee Maker,

AN Abundance of Patience.

I'm with you on that one! Thanks all for your responses, I'm feeling very daunted about tackling the ammo box latches. Time to watch the video, do some shopping on Amazon, and hope for the best.

Specsavers used to operate out of a garden shed before photo etch was invented...

Second what Jarndice says regarding Aber v Voyager, the Voyager is a lot easier, Aber seem to me to over complicate things, is make up something out of several parts when three or four would have done nicely.

A good desk top magnifier is essential for me anyway, the old eyes ain't what they used to be.
