Welcome to the forum,
I have a Torro kv1 metal version which I highly recommend, there is one of these for sale on eBay if you wish to have a look, it has a metal chassis with a quick release latch system to the top hull, metal gears, tracks, sprockets and stowage bins, it comes with a pretty decent paint job straight out of the box as well, hope this may be of some help to you
Lee.

The base plastic ones are pretty good too - I've got one plus a hybrid (Taigen hull & tracks, HL upper) KV 2.
If you go plastic look for the newer ones with the 2.4GHz radio system. There's an EBay seller somewhere near Cardiff had a load, or ask Dave (forgebear) on here (or EBay). They're also fairly cheap, so you can upgrade as you go along.
Oh, and look at the recommended sellers!

I bought this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heng-Long-RUS ... SwHnFVqBOX
Or with metal upgrades
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heng-Long-1-1 ... Swd0BVqCES
Note, the Taigen tracks cost a bit more but look really good (already black). I'd also be inclined to buy the plastic one above, then (separately, and after a lot of playing) 5:1 gear boxes & metal tracks. Got mine from rctanks.de (another of the recommended vendors). Costs more, but you get what you pay for.

Rob I smiled when having gone to the two E-Bay sites you put up, if you then clicked on "BUSINESS SELLER INFORMATION" Low and behold it is Lawrence at --

The question you have to ask yourself is do you want a ready to run out of the box Tank, or do you want a Tank that will be YOUR Tank,
By that I mean new decent gearboxes, a different control board, Perhaps an IBU 3? a new and better smoker, Etc,
Because upgrading to that level won't come cheap and as you would be discarding most of the internals you would probably be best getting the cheaper Tank,
BUT if you are happy with the KV1 as offered for sale but perhaps you would like just a few extras to add on then the pricier one is probably more suitable,
I suggest you make a list of available upgrades and the prices from whatever source, then see what work is needed to fit the upgrades you want and do check out websites and forums to pick the brains of those who have gone before,
And don't worry if it is a TAMIYA or a TAIGEN, what you are looking for is ideas,
And most important of all Keep the Forum in the loop, We won't ever tell you what kind of Tank to Build but we will freely offer all the advise going.

Fair point - but the two on the Haya site look to be the older 27MHz ones.
