Can I buy just the RX18 2.4ghz units Q

I'm sorry if this topic is somewhere else and been beaten to death; I did a search but did'nt find what I was looking for. Anyways, I bought a new HL Tiger 2 which has the newer style 2.4ghz trans etc. Can I just buy another RX18 2.4ghz unit for my Tiger 1 (which is currently the old guts) and use the Tiger 2's trans. controller to bind to the new unit in the Tiger 1? Also, does anyone know if the binding switch comes w/ the RX18 unit, or don't I need it? Thanks, Royce

I know that, but what I mean is can you buy just the unit for one tank and use an existing trans. (2.4ghz) from another tank? Will it bind okay or do I need anything else to get a tank up and running?

I think you need the same version and there are 3 2.4GHz sets, there's also a binding cable to sync them.

Didn't Ali Baba (or whoever it is) have a load at a fairly silly price?

Oh, ok, thanks. So I may not know which I have if I just randomly buy a RX18 unit? The Tiger 2 I just bought not too long ago I finally got it out of the box and it was already bound together, I guess since I didn't do what I have been reading about. I'll have to look closer at the trans. & unit and see if they have anything written in them. All my other RC "toys" are the old school crystal setups, so I wasn't sure how that all worked.

Might be more to do with the functions - 3rd gen have the smoke & sound on the controller - I'm not an expert (much above a novice). Dave (forgebear) might have some for sale?

Royce,

My understanding is that there is 3 versions of the Heng Long 2/4Ghz radio and receiver, and they are NOT compatible with each other. If you are buying the receiver separately from the radio (i.e. for your other tanks), it is imperative that you know what version of the radio you have now to make sure you get a matching receiver. You will need the same binding button for all of them, and I am not too sure if you buy the receiver separately you will get it, but you can always remove it from your current 2.4Ghz tank and use it on the receiver when you need them.

Basically the same case as their old crystal version but has 2.4Ghz marking and crystal spot blanked out.

Again, same case their old crystal ones, but the crystal spot now has Volume and Smoke button on it.

Completely new case with extra buttons like volume and smoke.

I hope this helps.

Yes, that was extremely helpfully and intuitive; thank you! (I was wondering about the binding button too; I noticed it glued up inside my new Tiger II but wasn't sure exactly what it was at first. I never had to bind it w/ the controller, it just worked for me... or so I thought, I have since read that it can take only 2 secs inmost cases to bind together anyways, but I don't remember holding any buttons etc.) PS: I love how the 3rd vers says: Excellent and High Tech! LOL

Your tank would have come with the radio and receiver binded/bound. Also, the button is really just a jumper, so if you have a 3 pin jumper that will connect the 1st and 3rd pin together it will work the same way. It is basically a binding plug on hobby grade RC receivers.
