Hello, here is my first attempt to mod a plastic Henglong tank. I wanted a rc Jagdtiger, but I'm really not a RTR guy. Don't want to go the expensive Ludwig's route, so I bought a Henglong 3888A-1 Henschel king tiger BB version.
This is how it was out of the box.
It has the pot metal transmission.
The chassis has to be lengthened, I choose 1.7cm as it allows me to have good track tension with 4 links added each side.
The front of the upper hull is lowered 4mm.
The rear engine deck is cut to fit the extented chassis.

I like the plan although it's people like you who put people like Asiatam and Ludwigs and our own Chris out of business

Any ideas on the control board or gears yet ?
I shall be watching with great interest.
Shaun.

Here's me thinking I did well getting one of the first H/L King Tigers in the country, and heres you thinking to slice yours up straight out of the box !!
I like the way you extended the rear, seems to be a sturdy option.

Damn you did stretch the lower hull!

WoW, just WoW!
I had thought about doing this but never got past the thinking stage.

After the upper hull and chassis mod, I wanted to figure out the gun an gun movements.
The gun is made of aluminium tubes and resin. The inner diameter is 8mm (8*16=128).
I used a PVC tube and Du-Bro large aircraft flaps hinges to allow elevation and recoil.
My first idea was to use servos for elevation and recoil, but keep the Henglong turret ring and traverse mechanism...we'll see later that I was wrong.
With the gun in operating order, I began the superstructure with 3mm plastic sheets, the side skirts and hull are extented with thinner plastic sheets. The center ventilator has been cut out. And of course lots of Tamiya putty .

Progress on the roof. The dunkelgelb parts are leftovers of an old Tamiya King tiger..
Some parts where very difficult to build.
The second version of the gun, with a third servo for the traverse.

The completed roof, the gun mantlet has been textured with tamiya putty and an old brush.
The rear door is made with 5mm styrene sheet. The weldings are made with Tamiya fine putty.
