Has anybody had any experience of using these moulds for kerbs and cobblestones:

http://www.dioramadebris.co.uk/116-scal ... 7-47-p.asp
http://www.dioramadebris.co.uk/124-scal ... 4-70-p.asp

The kerb stone mould is 1:16th scale but the cobblestone mould is 1:24 scale - wondering how they would look together?

Also what type of plaster and colouring pigments can you all recommend?

I want to make a road base for my 1:16 Sherman - I've looked at so many photo, posts and youtube videos.
I like the look of these but have never used plaster or resin or moulds for that matter, so any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks.

That looks like it would keep you busy casting all those , think stone plaster would be best to use its harder / more dense than plaster of Paris shows finer details. Be careful of getting airbubles out of plaster , you can tap / vibrate it once it's in mould and you should see air come to top

Thanks for that.
Can you recommend a web site and product for the plaster?

for cobblestones i use a polystyrene sheet, mark it off with a black biro then weather it, I found that when you buy white goods (fridges etc) you get a load of poly. Especially the poly used to protect the corners are brilliant for making corner walls. just remember not to use modelling glue cos it eats straight through. When detailing a wall ie putting moss etc into the render between bricks i use wood glue ! Looks great !

Making your own on styrene sheets is not hard but a little time consuming. Plus you end up with advantage of having the ability to make up your own cobblestone pattern, color and flexible surface so your road doesn't have to be flat.
