JAGDSTURMTIGER

Hi All,

I recently acquired a SturmTiger and would like to convert it to a Jagdsturmtiger similar to one posted not long ago on this Forum. This one:

viewtopic.phpf=1&t=18331&p=161299&hilit ... er#p161299

I remember, or I think I remember, seeing the mantlet conversion kit as a an option sold by Asiatam, but I cannot locate it on their site currently.

Can anyone offer a lead as to where I might be able to pick one up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Ralph

Ralph,

Do you mean this one ?

viewtopic.php?f=33&t=13526&p=121835&hil ... um#p121835

I am afraid I might have bought their last one as once I got mine I don't see them anymore on their website. Also, I don't believe they ever sold the mantlet and the 88mm separately. If you want the JagdStrumTiger you need to get the whole upper from them and the roof is also slight different than the StrumTiger. What I did was get the JagdStrumTiger kit, and then get the 38cm separately which they do sell.

Hi MichaelC,

Yes, thanks. That's the one. But, what do you mean when you say the Jagdsturmtiger "kit?" You're not referring to the separate metal upper structure sold by Asiatam are you?

Thanks again,

Ralph

Fear not gentle reader, you can make one using the jagdtiger mantelet. I've got to do this on my jagdsturm tiger in working on.

Well then Tomhugill,

Please grace these pages with the build of this paperapnzer. We'd all love seeing it come to life!

Thanks Tom

I second that, Tom. Bitte. 8)

I recently acquired a sturm and the Jagdsturmtiger is the route she seems to want to take. Just need a little road map. :haha:

Here's the thread I started

As you can see I've not really done masses, but you get the general idea of a 128mm gun with the jagdtiger mantelet on the sturm casemate.

The metal tube the barrel slots in (both come from mk modellbau) fits perfectly in the resin jagdtiger mantle I got in a box of stuff off eBay, just a matter of boring it out.

Ralph,

As far as I know, the 88mm L/56 JagdStrumTiger matlet and gun is only available as a kit from them with the superstructure. The roof hatches are modified, with a Tiger I commander's cupola which is not on the StrumTiger. In addition, Asiatam doesn't ship the crane with the kit. They also sell the 38cm rocket launcher separately, and is interchangeable with the 88mm L/56 mantlet/gun which is what I purchased from them.

Tom's version makes more sense anyway, as it doesn't make sense that they would put the same gun as the Tiger I on the assault gun/Tank destroyer version since it is usually up gunned from the tank version (i.e. Panther 75mm vs JagdPantehr 88mm, KT 88mm vs JT 128mm etc). It should at least be the L71 version (i.e. Same as the Elephant and the JP) or the 128mm with or without muzzle brake.

I think the reason Asiatam did is because they already have a metal L/56 with their Porsche Tiger I so they were just re-using parts bin, that's all.

Having said all that, I am still having second thought about the JagdStrum Tiger overall look. Still looks quite "piggish".......
