Guys anyone no what color these were paint code ??? Thanks Andy

I went on a quest 12 months ago to find the answer to that one, I even came across a very heated debate on a military memorabilia site about what was a 'genuine' drum, the markings, colour etc.

In the end I settled for plain dark grey, though I would hazard a guess that depending on the contents they would be different colours, eg petrol, diesel, or water.

I just found a thread on a modelling site, where it is stated that until 1944, a lot of them weren't painted at all. The barrels were made of galvanized steel.
