Greek Leopard 1A4
Greek Leopard 1A4
Found my next project after the KV
After selling the Hummer to find my next project I had been debating what to get - this was in eBay along with a few other tanks I missed out on.
Got it fairly reasonably, good job too as after talking to Nigel and scalawag I need to gut it an rebuild it with lots of shiny new bits!
The plan is to model it on this... A Greek leopard 1a4.
And here is its current state, awaiting some much needed love.

Now that I like should look awesome .Brian...
Re: Greek Leopard 1A4
Started stripping the Leopard today as I have finished building the KV.
Taken the gearbox, tracks and servo etc out and plan to replace with new gearboxes and tracks in time.
Washed the whole tank in warm, soapy water - sink full of dirty and mucky water!
Now, to the wheels... Some advice please!
I have a spare set of bearings from my leopard 2a6 which look to be the right size! Result!
One is the same size as the push fit cap, the other is the same size as the hole the cap fits through.
What would you use?
One requires the wheel to be drilled, the other a small piece of the cap to be trimmed.

Thanks Geoff, good looking tanks once refurbed aren't they!
Re: Greek Leopard 1A4
Whilst I wait for the camo on the KV to be painted (got to get down to scalawag's for a day) I have been pondering the Greek Leopard.
How would one go about building the night vision/optics on the version I'm doing?
There seem to be two types, pictured below...

Looks like they're the same to me, but the one in the last image has the the protective door swung open. I think there's a cage around the IR illuminator (or whatever it is) with a semicircular door that hinges on its right-hand axis.
Re: Greek Leopard 1A4
Possibly - I couldn't tell if they were the same. Could well be just the door open
