All you'd have to do is get an IR turret and plug it in. You have to decide if you need early or late, and if you want metal or plastic.

It would also help to know where you are, Nathan. Imex has them in the US, but I'm sure they can be had in the UK, from one of the Bears, probably. Here's a link to the IR from Imex

http://www.imex-model.com/product/TAG12 ... tml?cid=90

The IR turret isn't listed in plastic, but they have the IR turret and upper hull in plastic for $68 USD. Keep in mind that they have a 20% off sale right now so that's the sale price and will go back up soon, probably by the end of next week. If you're in the US I have a metal IR turret right next to me I'm not using.

Gary if I had not been ripped off by "TANKZONE" my TORRO TIGER 1 would be the finest Tank I owned, as it is it is tainted with bad memories which perhaps is the reason I removed the top quality paint work and changed it into an early Tunisian Tiger (312)
It looks very different from the Tiger 1 that I lifted out of its wooden case,
Shaun.

I didn't know til now that Torro made the Tiger one, but I checked and it's the same as the Taigen, just different stickers. I have the Torro Sturmtiger and it's go that great lower hull with torsion bar suspension. Very robust tank.

If you buy the IR turret, you will also find one more wire coming out of the turret that the air soft doesn't have. This is the ground wire for the barrel recoil. It will have 1/2 of a Tamiya male connector, less the plastic. You will then have to pick up a ground from some where else and connect to the extra wire. I usually tap into the ground portion of the on/off switch with a wire, put a piece of shrink tube on the wire and shrink one end just enough so it will slide along the wire. I then solder a female portion of a Tamiya battery connector to the end. Plug the two together, then slide the shrink tube over the metal connection. The barrel will then recoil and RETURN TO BATTERY as it should. If you don't hookup the ground wire the barrel will recoil but not return to battery. It may even continue to fire the gun sound because the micro switch is closed.

When you say upgrade to an IR tank, are you referring to the Heng Long style IR, or the industry standard used by Tamiya, Clark, IBU and Elmod?

I mention it as there is a difference, the HL style IR can only battle against other HL tanks, and to be honest it isn't up to much. If you are looking for an industry standard IR then your only option is to buy the drive board from one of the above. You will also need an aftermarket transmitter and receiver to run the tank with the new board installed. As a bonus you will also get very realistic tank engine sounds, gun fire etc.

The Tamiya is designed for Tamiya tanks, but all of the others can be installed into any tank without too much work. If you look around on the forum and You Tube you will see what they all do. The deciding factor is usually cost, they all come in at different prices, but you are looking at around £100 minimum to do the swap. The last I heard was that HL had stopped making their tanks with their IR, but I have no idea what the other manufacturers are doing.

The short answer is that anything can be converted to anything else, all tanks have four motors, eg two gearbox motors, turret rotation motor, and elevation motor. As all boards power these same motors, its just hooking up the wires. The IR is more complex, but the aftermarket boards make it all very easy.

Oh sorry,
The tank is a Tiger1 which was purchased from Tank Zone. It was actually a painless purchase thank god. It has an all metal lower haul with plastic upper haul. It is the early model.
