Hello, I'm curious to know if anyone here's made a modification to the Leo's side skirts and put them on hinge pins so that they naturally move in accordance to the tanks motion. I was thinking of starting that on my HL Leo but wasn't sure where to begin. Would be cool if they made metal uppers, it'd make it slightly easier to work with

Commenting to keep tabs on this! Seems like a good idea, but I'm not experienced enough to know how to go about it lol.

This build may be of help , I think they put hinges on the side skirts

Was looking around and found those same hinges on afv models, they look close enough to work for the Leo 2, I'm looking around some more before I start work on it. I do like how he ended up making the skirt rod work out though, that was a problem that I'd thought would come up. I don't think it's necessary to file out the whole skirt though, just enough to have a supporting pin at each link would be enough. Guess we'll see when I get started

Hi Another way to get round the problem rather than drilling/filing the skirt is to cut off the plastic 'hinge' and glue on some brass tube to run the rod through, much easier!

Question is: do the skirts really move when the tank is in motion? I don't recall seeing videos of such skirt action. Perhaps the earlier skirts did, as those weren't really heavy from what I recall, but the later skirts were heavier and I guess stiffer/didn't move around much.
Would be nice though to have the skirts movable/working like the real ones.

http://youtu.be/URvkJIby0wo I got a video of leopards prancing around. They move, both variants I think. Anyways so far my only challenge is getting the proper sized file. I think a hack saw will do but haven't had the time to go out and buy one.

progress so far, waiting on the hingepins to dry.
