There are 2 completly different ABER Wing Nuts sets, One is a self assembly PE set which I would avoid and the other is a proper working Wing Nut,Its only drawback is the price,
A Tiger 1 had roughly 38 wingnuts and paying ABERs price for enough of them would be ruinous,
If you can aquire a few sets from Schumo and make a working thread as I have described you would have an affordable set of proper working wing nuts,
A few years back a company in Singapore made Wing Nuts like schumo but loose in bags of 100,alas I can no longer find them.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Hi Jarndice,
I haven't found the Aber pre-assembled ones in UK.
I've managed to get hold of 3mm 3d printed ones but I reckon 4mm would be the right scale for the cable clamps.
I don't want threaded working clamps. The model has to be robust as a runner so anything added will be CA'd in place.
It's concerning how much less supply of modelling accessories is available compared to 10 years ago. Feels like the hobby is dying out.
Regards,
Chris

cmryanuk wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 7:15 pm Hi sorry changing my response. Hope its not too late but I just received an order from Poland and 3mm is too small for the cable tie downs:

4mm wing to wing with 1.3mm centre hub would be great. These seem to be typical 1930s design.
Thank you
Just getting round to drawing these up

Can we just double check the sizes please?

Picture just put in CAD, artistic license
Image
5mm Width 2.5mm high & wings 0.6mm thick, they are tiny
Can try resin on super detail setting and light supports
They wont take a thread and be very brittle, but if you gluing on a pin that would work well i think

I think 5mm is too big for scale, 4mm wing to wing would be better, 2mm high. I've found some resin ones I got caught the turret rotation so had to file them down. Not worried about threading them. Thanks

I love your attention to detail, but I could not handle this. At some point I'd start hating the tank or myself because I just wasn't driving it yet or enough. Of course that would be after spending too much time pondering me sanity over 4mm wing nuts. :D

You can't win on this forum: if you miss off a fire extinguisher label or wind your tow cables the wrong way someone with a PhD in WW2 tow cable winding chips in, and you get grief for trying to get some scale butterfly nuts! :haha: :haha:

Ps MrChef I drove it yesterday

Just as long as you remember that you are getting ADVICE not holy scripture no one is forcing you to do anything but if all that was offered was how to unscrew a tube of glue we would not last very long,
Give as much detail as we can and leave the modeller the choice of how much or how little they use has to be the best route.,
I use wing/butterfly nuts where appropriate but I rarely weather my models,
It really is horses for courses.
