I'm sure that most, if not all of those here who've bought a tank from Heng Long, Taigen or Torro, will have been leaked upon by the useless bottle of Smoke unit fluid supplied in the accessory pack. True to form, the pack I received today with my spanking new Taigen Metal edn. T34/85 (with 360 deg turret.. and, OH the wonderful guilty anguish of it all ) ..well, it had already disgorged half of its contents into the packaging. It then oiled my hands and everything I touched thereafter, until I got it o the bin; which it then oiled. These often pink- topped bottles are utterly useless. When you circumcise the nozzle slightly...gingerly, to allow the contents to flow down the spindly transparent funnel- supplied for filling the smoker reservoir- then fit the funnel, the funnel will leak, ..but it will certainly not remain attached. Afterwards, you place the sealing cap attached to the bottle, on the nozzle. But does it stay there? Never. I've had six like this that and all behaved badly. Even the funnel itself will spilt, or refuse to remain attached to the nozzle... Taping it up, or using glue might help, but...
Anyway, can anyone suggest an appropriate and reliable alternative filler bottle...that is, without me having to trawl the net to try to find one?? Incidentally, although the Taigen T34 is beautifully made, and offers excellent detail..together with loads of extras, including a real metal tow cable (let down by the crappy smoke fluid bottle....but hey..)..the system for filling the smoker is almost laughably tortuous...almost like giving someone an enema
(I imagine..er..I've never actually done that)

Roy, I can't believe you're still messing with stock fluid. Even straight Johnson's Baby Oil is better than that. I have a video somewhere (don't I usually?) that shows the types of syringes I use for smoke fluid (I use mega steam but I hear it's hard to get in the UK?) I like the ones that are made for measuring childrens' oral medicine. They look toy-like, but are actually very good. The ones with the rubber stoppers inside aren't that great, as the oil doesn't get along well with the rubber.
I'll look for the video if ya want, Bro.
There Can Be Only One! Sorry, can't help myself sometimes.

Oh yeah, congrats on the new tank! I can't wait to see video. What are your plans for it?

I agree with Gary about using the mega-steam, 1/2 a pipette fills my TARR 2 just right and the stuff is readily available at www.petersspares.com
and the days of leaking smoker fluid are just a bad memory.
Shaun.

Well, Gary I'm still learning to walk again..wearing, as I am something resembling a knee-length antigravity boot built by NASA, and propelling myself with elbow crutches. That makes tanking extremely limited, but I will post a few pics of the growing collection, including the alluring new T34. The T34 feels good to hold (how weird is that?)..almost like an armoured tortoise, but it fits together with real precision. I've never owned a Tamiya yet, but I think Taigen must be nearly as good now, if this is anything to go by.
I did take the thin red 'straw' off a WD-40 can and fitted it into the nozzle, and that worked better..I also have plastic syringes `i use for meds on the dogs (well, dog now)..but if you have a vid of a more effective means, let me link to it. I bought a Tarr before Xmas from Tankbear, but I'm waiting to fit that into the Tiger. When I do, I'll certainly have to investigate the best smoke fluids out there.

Thanks for the sage advice, Shaun..duly noted. Damned thing also leaked embarrassingly on my chavvy track suit bottoms(Chav= Ned in Scotland, by the way...but 'Neddy' smacks of a donkey). Normally, I never wear anything as hideous as that, but it's all I could find to stretch over
a plaster cast

OK, Roy, ask and ye shall receive
I have yet to buy a tammy myself, but I can say the Taigen has improved quite a bit with each new tank. Torro, as well. The new Jagdtiger (I guess it ain't so new anymore, got it last summer) is Torro and very well built, and the taigen Sherman is quite robust, at least on par with my Mato all metal PzIII lower hull. Both are quite stout.
