M3 Wing Nuts.

I have just received a bag of 40 M3 Wing/Butterfly Nuts from "MITOSAL"
In common with all the small wing nuts they are not working products but instead merely pressed out facsimiles But I had a plan when I ordered them,
I wanted to replace the 2mm screwed in clamps that hold the FEIFAL Air Cleaner Intake Pipes for clamps that were held in place with Wing nuts, I needed 8 so I reckoned that a bag of 40 would allow for my incompetence,
I clipped off the Faux threads from the top and bottom of the wing nuts then into a vise to file the clipped area flat then using a 1.2 mm drill bit in my pin vise I drilled a pilot hole followed by a 1.8mm hole then with a few drops of oil down the hole I tapped a 2mm thread through the wing nut. I ran the wing nuts along a length of 2 mm threaded rod which will go where the screws were fitted PERFECT
I repeated the exercise a further 7 times and was successful each time,
So for the outlay of a few ££ I have the prospect of using 40 wing/butterfly nuts.
These are of course to big for many areas where 1mm wing nuts are used but they do have their place and they look just right for very little skill and the simplest of tools.
