Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Dear all
I've installed in my KV and ibu2 from rcrankelectrics (great company by the way, excellent service)
And a Clarke recoil and elevation unit, it comes with 2 servos, and I think the "frame" is 3D printed. The recoil recoils well, but there's a 2 second gap for the return of the barrel to start position.
Also the elevation servo is quite slow, and up is down on the stick, and down is up.
Is it because I've got servos that only work with Clarke boards, but I thought a servo was a servo?
And to cap it all I've managed to blow a smd fuse on the ibu, must have arched it on the metal hull Doh! When you think your nearly finish a model......
Thanks all for reading

Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Hi if you alter the two recoil values that aren't recoil digital, ones total time and ones return time of recoil cycle. There will always be a slight gap between recoil and rerun bit it will be smaller.
Regarding elevation, it's slow and you can't alter it, yours is working as intended.

Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
These are the settings for the recoil and elevation (servo)
RecoilTimeServo=3000
RecoilTimeServoReturn=1000
RecoilInverseCmd=TRUE
I can never remember which does in and out, but normally I half the default figures and test if too fast increase a little or still too slow decrease.
SrvAlzoInverseCmd=FALSE
SrvAlzoUpdate=40
SrvAlzoType=0
Adjust SrvAlzoUpdate between 0-100 ( I think in 0 is faster) but in reality if the servo or the linkage is slow your limited to a slow elevation.

Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Thanks fellas, I don't know what I'd do without the kind help from all of you! Just waiting on the smd fuse, I know what happened, the dam on off switch was poorly soldered at the live pin, which was touching the black earth wire, keeping my fingers crossed it is just the fuse and not the whole board, maybe another order on the way to rcrankelectrics!
Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
I didn't want to start a new thread with the same question so...
I've got a digital servo for my gun recoil. Recoil speed is good. It's the return speed that is slow. I've played with the figures in the .ini file, but no progress. How can I make the return speed as fast as the recoil speed? Thanks.

Make the 2 numbers the same should work.

Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Hi fellas!
I tried the file settings, but no joy, there is still the 2 second gap, the barrel returns quicker, but there's this gap before the return.
Could it be that the servos are not compatible with the ibu2? Only for Clarke boards? What would be the recommended choose of servo? Could I buy from rcrankelectrics? There's YouTube footage of the servo recoil on an ibu2 that's straight in straight out, which is the majority but there's a couple with the gap
http://youtu.be/mbAqaZiDx5E With gap
http://youtu.be/oSeki2KI8SM without gap
Mines doing the exact gap as of the stug
I'm a bit stumped, it's silly to say, but a tagien unit looks better than this!
Here's the link to the Clarke unit and servos that are supplied
http://www.clark-model.com/chi/index_e.html There an eMac analog servo?
Thanks fellas! Night night

Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Ok, I'll check it again. IIRC I already have both figures the same, but it's been awhile so my memory is foggy.
Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Hi Tankalot,
I just use and the cheap tower pro SG90 servos and managed to get it without gap. I cannot see the servo been Clarke specific as a servo will work on any system, yes some have larger deflection, different speeds and torque but the input signal is the same regardless.
Check out this website which list stats for most of the servos available out there and compare the supplied Clarke servo to the Tower Pro SG90 I use and see how different the specs are.

Slightly off topic when I was researching using a heli gyro for gun stabilization a cheap digital servo is faster than the most expensive analogue servo. So like Atcttge said try a digital servo.

Re: Ibu2 pro servo recoil return speed, elevation speed
Hi Tankbear
I've just ordered 2 digital sg90 servos (servoshop.co.uk) and I'll see if it helps, the good news is I got the fuse and it's all working, I didn't realise how little space there is in s KV hull compared to a tiger Panther! Trying to fit it all in is s nightmare!!,
Thanks!
