Sarge, Welcome to the Forum,
First a couple of questions, Have you looked at the "BLACKLIST" ?
If not you should do so as soon as possible so that you might avoid being ripped off, Once you have done that go to the "Recommended Vendors" where you can buy free of worry.
Second question, Where are you in the world ? Knowing that helps us point you in the direction of the nearest club/Dealer/Advise.
Ask all the questions you want, we like answering them.
Enjoy this place we do.
Shaun.

Welcome aboard from Detroit, Brendan. You'll find a lot of us Yanks here that truly appreciate what a great forum this is.
What tank are you thinking about starting with?

Excellent choice. I have the Taigen Porsche turret, but one of these days I'll get the Torro Henschel Turret, or maybe even a Tamiya!
Have you looked at the different brands yet? There's a lot to be said for all of them, and with the king tiger you can choose from a Heng Long that's really inexpensive but needs a lot of work in upgrades, all the way to the Torro King tiger, which is pretty darn good right out of the box and only really needs better electronics and detailing but is a much bigger initial investment. Then there's the Tamiya kit, the gold standard, and that one has to be built from the ground up so you can take advantage of the many guys here that have built one and already found all the hiccups and improvements that are needed. Any way you go, you're gonna have a lot of fun.

Hi yea i wud love to have the finances to get a kit and build from the ground up. To answer your question ive looked at the heng long, taigen, torro and tamiya kit. But with my budget I maybe going with either heng long or taigen.
Thx guys for all your interest in this newbie

I only have personal experience with the Taigen, but I do have a torro Jagdtiger, which is very similar to the Torro King Tiger. The Taigen KT can be a very good tank, but with mine I had to install a Henntec idler and better tracks before it ran right, and I still have to get the right tracks. As an experiment I borrowed the tracks from my Jagdtiger and found them to work great, so now I just need Imex to get the Torro tracks in so I can pick up a set.
