Hi

I have searched hi and low for a couple of spring antenna's/aerial's, I can only find in 1/35, I don't think they exsist in 1/16, I so don't want to try making them again....does anyone know of anywhere that sells something similar..

Hi Jake, i have also searched but could find nothing suitable.

I ended up adding a short length of heatshrink over the base over the antenna.
Not as good but looks a bit better.

Cheers
Tim

What if you were to take a plain antenna and stick it into a small spring? Maybe a dot of solder to hold it and even make it work if need be.

Hi
That's what I do. I brought a set of small extension assorted springs from RS one of the spring sizes is a good fit over 1.2mm dia brass wire so I drill the antenna base and fit a 10mm length into it then super glue the spring to it. the other end you cut the wire to your aerial length and glue into the spring , Volia one spring aerial.

thanks guy's, I'm not likely to have any luck finding any, so yes looks like I'll be making them..Somehow tho if I use the spring and glue method I can't see them turning out anything like the ones I want e.g.(pic below) :problem:

I took a good look at the piece that Lord Haw Haw posted the link to and i think I could turn those out of brass on my lathe pretty easy. If we could find the right size spring ...

I bet I could make a few sets and stick a couple in an envelope and send them across the pond for not much more than a fancy Christmas card. I have the plastic piece on my Imex Sherman, is that the same base? With that one I just drilled it out and used .5mm styrene rod. I'll make a video so you can see what I'm talking about, Jake. I've got that tank on the bench working on stowage anyway. If I can use these dimensions I'll most likely turn up a few sets, provided I can find appropriate springs. We have a spring winder at work but I don't think it will go that small.
