A question about Japanese RC tanks

With all the tanks from the usual suspects USSR, Germany, Britain and the US etc it got me thinking had anyone heard of a radio controlled Japanese tank? I know they had the Ha Go's and the heavier Chi Ri mediums that they built. Also there were those OI super heavy tanks that were really only based on the drawing board, though a prototype may have been half built.

I have seen the model kits available but I wondered if anyone has ever built an RC one.

I'm the kind of person who although lacking the skill to do scratch builds does like looking at photos of other people's hard work.

The Chi Nu that Michael has highlighted is one of the Japanese tanks that can be translated to 1/16th scale....I am planning to do one once things have settle down...there are other Candidates like that heavy you are speaking of...the Ha Go is also possible because of the tall hull...the Chi Ha and Chi Ri are a more difficult pull...the hull where you would seat the gearboxes are too flat...so unless you can find some really compact units ...they are probably out of the picture

They weren't great tanks...but they do have character...and I don't think there is any camo like the Japanese Camo..especially with the Yellow bolts crossing the bodies

I have some 1/35 research tanks I've been working on here on the board...I did them to see which are viable candidates for enlargement ;)

I think Tamiya has 1/16 Type 10 RC tank. It's a modern tanks if your question does not exclude this.

I just hope one of the big companies makes a brit tank soon. The first tank was a brit tank after all.

Thanks for the replies :) Did Heng Long release a Challenger 2 recently or is it still to be made available to general release?

Although a Little Willie prototype or a Whippet from WW1 would be quite a good bit of tank history to release in terms of releasing more British tanks. Or a TOG 2 :haha:

A Centurion would be nice...a Crusader or Matilda as well...There are other Brit tanks that come to mind...but for some I can see the reason they aren't in production...some of the Drive trains are too labor intensive and might be more of a headache than a blessing during production ;)

I believe the Challenger2 has been released. Maybe it has not reached customers over the pond. That's all!

Plenty of Challengers about in the UK, they have been on sale for a couple of months over here.
The Tamiya Type 10 is the only Jap tank that they do.
The nearest that Heng Long do is the ZTZ98, which is a Chinese military item.
Anything else would have to be scratch built, though due to the boxy nature of the older Japanese variants they would be 'fairly' easy to do.
