Decided to treat myself to a new tank after selling some other projects and unmade kits.

Step into the ring KV1 :D

Plans for this one are some schumo upgrades, an idler support bar and other bits.

Not sure on a colour scheme yet but not in any rush.

Thanks Simon.

Slowly collecting parts and info for this build. Some stuff I need to order from the U.S.

I'll be following along on your build, often thought about the Tamiya KV-1 for myself.

Not slot happened recently, been waiting for stuff to arrive, then suddenly realised I didn't pay for the up armoured kit hence why it never turned up lol :D

Reinforcing bar turned up from mitosal.

Decided on a specific KV1 - up armoured panels and tri tone camouflage.

Tell us more about this reinforcing bar, is it a chassis brace?

The reinforcing bar/chassis brace (photo to follow) is an Impact item from Mitosal. Some KV owners have had chassis twist due to lack of a reinforcing bar where the idlers are. Simple and cheap part made by a reputable company for the Tamiya kit.

Should stiffen the front as the KV is rear sprocket driven.

Thanks Ad Lav, I've a few Tamiya tanks, all of which have some stiffing devices attached. Mostly in the gear box area and idler area.

My Tamiya Leopard and Tiger have no reinforcing bars, never seen a twisted chassis on them though. Looks simple enough to fit.
