I wonder if anyone could measure the length of the front armour on the panther from top to bottom, please,I am trying to convert an old pantiger to resemble a panther tank.It won't be historically correct but was only a spares tank so will do for me.

Hi mate, to be honest you would do better trying to convert the Pantiger into a Dalek as it would be more accurate.

Cheers

Hi,Tim,yes I know the pantiger is rubbish but I got this free with a tiger & was going to use it for spares but thought I may as well try a few things with it.I see you have a panther could you possibly measure the length of the front armour for me please.

Hi, Ian
I've never actually seen the fabled 'Pantiger', would you mind posting a pic for the general behoof? I could google it, but..is it the armoured equivalent of the 'Labradoodle', or the "Cockapoo'? (Not to mention the bulldog/ shitzu cross). Honestly, I'd really like to see it as a sort of bucket-list item. The numerous references here had me intrigued

Hi Ian, The problem with the Pantiger is that it is meant to look like a Panther A, but is actually built on what is essentially a Tiger chassis.

Most of the HL Panther G in looks and dimensions is pretty close to scale. There are a few small problem areas but essentially good.
The Pantiger is out in every aspect abut it does have certain features that represent the Panther A.
The rear deck with it's 2 low fan housings, the exhausts are of the style only fitted to the Panther A, The

The top hull front armour (Glacis plate) is 88mm from top to bottom.

Happy to provide any other dimensions you might need.

thanks tim,I know that you can't polish a turd but can't afford a panther at moment & I have some spare styrene & bits & pieces so will mess about with it.
Roy,if you go to heng long builds & panther to jagdpanther by capt midnight his 1st picture is of a pantiger, the running gear is tiger so quite good but top is all out of proportion.

I have heard whispers and tales of the infamous "Pantiger" :haha:

Is it as bad as the stories suggest?

Being into historical accuracy would probably make the Pantiger a no no for me. At least the Heng Long Tiger 1 I have can be scrubbed up to standard if I am correct

As I say the bottom is pretty good as it's a tiger ,doesn't loose tracks, but the top is not even close to anything, what I can't understand is dealers on ebay are still selling them as panther tanks for well over £100.
