Speaker enclosures

I know for people in the art and science of creating audio speakers how critical all the factors are but I do notice even with these small speakers and spaces how much slight variations in speaker enclosures effect the sound. For instance I generally prefer the FRS 8 over the FRS 7 for bass but a good airtight speaker box will make the 7 much deeper sounding than a loose or poorly enclosed 8.

I totally agree. A decent speaker box makes a world of difference to what comes out of the speaker.

Hi getting the speaker box right is a dark art, If you look at Tamiya speakers they all work well but they also have a vent which seems to amplifie the bass sound , if you have room for a Tamiya speaker I would go for one , trying to copy one dosnt seem to work (I think its the plastic they are made from) I have tried.

This could be a very handy thread.
Ive made a couple of speaker boxes over the years but always added a port like the Tamiya speakers thinking this was the right approach.
Net result is they dont sound great.
I might now try some sealed boxes.
Cheers

I never heard a Tamiya speaker but my experience...largest enclosure that will fit..stuff the inside with something to deaden sound..cotton works..seal it airtight.. really punches up the depth and resonance.

Just a note....Reflected sound has been around for years....If you need idea concepts check out BOSE ....They are the leading company in reflective sounds

Now these 901s won't fit in your tank...but ...you can get a rough idea of the concept
