Seems that it took two to three (?) years for HL Challenger 2 to see the light of day.

Other than the T-90 (is it true that Russians have had a lock on it having pre-ordered the entire first batch?), wot is the next tank from HL? Will it be another modern armour subject? Any scandalous rumours, wild unfounded speculation, or irrational hopes and wishes?

Well, looks like the next one we will see is the M3, I have heard a Centurion is in the pipe line, but don't ask how long the pipe is!! Shame about the T90 if that's true, it may be a while before it lands in the UK.

Would love to see a Chieftain, as well as a Warrior, Scorpion, Scimitar, Challenger 1, Abbot self propelled gun, well I can dream.

Technically it is a Taigen release, but it would be the Panther F. New Taigen late metal road wheels for the Panther, plus a metal F turret that was available in plastic before. The road wheels will be available separately in case you want to do a late Panther with the metal wheels.

I'd love to know about the centurion.

The T-90 I read it at RCU. I hope they produce more. My NATO tanks need targets hehehehe

There is a formula for identifying what HL are likely to build, and that is their gearboxes. A tank that can take them is far more likely to see the light of day than one that won't, as they all use the same variants.

It would therefore be unlikely that we will see any tanks that are narrow, or low, as they would have to design new gearboxes to fit, and so would all of the aftermarket suppliers. If they did build some of the tanks that the gearboxes wouldn't naturally fit into, you would probably have to accept 'modified' and non scale hulls to accommodate them.

It's the same with Tamiya, all down to economies of production, scale looks, sales vs. demand etc. They would all be sticking their necks out and taking an unnecessary risk by developing a tank that may not recoup the tooling investment. Russia and China are huge expanding markets, so would they develop a tank that they could sell a million of in China and Russia, or 3,000 of in the UK?

The one modern tank that I suspect would have global appeal is the Centurion, though if I was HL I would be designing a range of upper hulls that fit their existing lower ones. Those who scratch build know that there are numerous models that can be done this way, and it lowers production costs. Think of all of the Sherman variants etc.

Sad, but I suspect true?

I'm surprised HL or Tamiya hasn't released a Russian tank destroyer. HL and taigen could do the ones that use the KV and T-34 lower hull and Tamiya could do the ones that use the KV and JS lower hulls.
all they need is a new upper hull and that's it. easy way to make a couple more new models!
