new guy Scotland (heng long m4a3 sherman for 5 year old!)

Hi folks.
Just bought a m4a3 (metal tracks and smoke/noise) for my 5 year old lads xmas present. Naturally I won't be letting him have the BB pellets or smoke oil until he is much older ( or with me I guess). First rc tank, though I have a thundertiger mt4 lipo truggy I sometimes let te kids scare themselves with!

If anyone thinks buying this tank for a young lad was a bad idea and a cheaper toy tank would be more reliable/suitable, please let me know your thoughts? I was hoping this would be more robust/reliable than a regular toy tank and as it's not lipo, thought the nicad battery would be easy enough for mum to charge and install when I'm at work.
Thanks all. :)

Hi, Welcome to the Forum, What a loving dad, wish my dad had bought me Christmas presents like this.
The first thing I would suggest you do is buy a better charger for your NI-CAD, the HENG LONG charger is acknowledged to be RUBBISH, and warn the little wonder that if he drops his Tank, it will BREAK!!!.
shaun.

The Heng Long Sherman is decent runner out of the box so you should have some fun with it. BB not so much for a 5 year old but smoke oil is cool.

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I have an Icharger 306b which is great, but there is absolutely no way the wife is going to use that with all the wires and server powersupply!
I will check the forum for discussions on a "simple" all in one charger. Charge time not too important as I will probably buy a spare battery.

Great idea monkeyfud(?).

Having no children of my own I bought my first Tiger for my wife, The second for our dog (Jackson), the third for my mother and so the goldfish doesn't feel left out I've ordered a fourth.

Welcome to the forum!

It seems we all think alike. Just before the birth of my first child, I bought them a ps4 and surround sound system too under the guise of child learning and motor skill development. The thundertiger RC was supposed to be for the kids last year (never realised just how powerful it was going to be) but I am hoping the tank will be much much slower. Should have it delivered next week, so plenty of te to 'make sure it works' before Xmas.
