Just tried Krylon clear coat before putting decals on the new airsoft recoil turret. As soon as it's fully dry I'll be able to sand it off and repaint the turret. What garbage this stuff is. If anyone wants my recommendation, don't touch krylon with a ten foot pole.

Maaaax, what did you do? I'm curious though, what problems did you encounter with it? I've always had great luck with their products, what is the temperature you are trying to spray it in? Also how is the humidity? Both of these are HUGE factors in how well it turns out.

I always use Testors Dullcote that stuff always works great.

72 degrees and 55% humidity. The stuff ate right through the paint underneath, even though I let it cure for over a week. I've never had this trouble with Rustoleum or future (now Pledge Future Floor Finish). But, I've already got it stripped and sanded so I'll just do it again and stick to Future from here on out. I know that won't interact with Testors so I should be safe.

Tom, I also use dulcote and I agree it's great stuff, but this was the gloss coat before decals. The dulcote comes after decals and basic weathering.

I used the krylon as a primer and never had any issues...... I wonder if it is just the glossy clear that is eating into stuff. I used their burnt red I think as the flat rust red base coat for German AFVs.

I too, have used other krylon paints with no trouble, but this is the first time I tried the gloss clear. Like I said, from now on I stick to Future before decals.

Ohhhhhhhh nooo! That's totally un-cool! How bad did it mess up your work?

I've used the Kyron flat clear coat for years with no trouble. Just used light coats and let dry between applications or it will soften any enamel already applied. Seems not to effect any type of decals if applied this way.
