The Imex Model Company is and always has been a US company. They partner with Taigen and Torro to distribute tanks. Imex has a lot to do with what gets built. Heng Long is completely separate. The way I heard it, Taigen was started by a Heng long family member that split from Heng Long and that's why they're so similar, but I can't confirm that. Taigen and Torro both sell tanks independently from Imex, but the ones labeled Imex are specifically built for Imex by the other two. They are kinda related, kinda like ford, Mercury and Lincoln are all related but still separate corporate entities. The guy that owns Imex, Bill, did a post at RCU with an explanation of the relationship so if you're really that curious, Machine, I could try to find you a link. As for me, I have both Heng Long and the Imex family but I always try to get Imex if I'm after a RTR tank. My last 4 have all come from Imex and they're just great, especially the Jagdtiger.

You're right that the Imex tanks are superior to the Heng long, but there's just something about taking an inferior item and turning it into something special. I have an HL Tauchpanzer that I've put a lot of work into and now it's one of my favorites.

This, sooo much this! It was very nice getting my Abrams from Imex, because it worked right out of the box, but my HL Pershing will always be my favorite. It went from a barely functioning toy, to a ~13lbs beast, that can go nearly anywhere.
