Like Tom says it has manual crank and power turn when engine is running. Although it does sound like it's playing the elevation sound instead of the powered traverse, so I will check the Jagdtiger sound set

Okay looked into it and the sound set is playing a file for elevation and another file for powered traverse. But although two separate files both are the same sound. Having quickly gone through a few German WW2 tanks all appear to be the same.

So the IBU2 is working correctly, just needs an alternative barrel or power traverse adding.

Interestingly the Tiger doesn't make any sound when the turret is rotating.

That was our theory, that you have to hand crank when the engine's off. I think most boards exaggerate sounds like that for dramatic effect. Makes for a more interesting model, I guess. I never thought there was anything wrong with the IBU, I just wasn't 100% sure about the hand crank theory and didn't want to look stupid. I wonder where they got the original crank sounds? I imagine it does make noise when it power rotates but the engine just drowns it out. That video is great, Wibb. I'd like to see the turret move when the engine is off and see what that's like. I'm seriously jealous of the guy that gets to drive it.

On the whole I think it's an interesting detail and I'm impressed that IBU went to that level of realism, even if it does have to be a little exaggerated for the market.

Which is why I removed the traverse and elevation sounds on my IBU2 for the M1.

I must have been stood just to the left of the guy that made the video, I was there when all of that was going on.

There was nothing more than a very subdued hum when the turret rotated, though my guess is that the sound creators go for what would be heard inside the turret rather than outside. The one noise that always gets my goat is the deafening shell eject and clatter. It's like someone dropping a box of spanners on the floor, I am pretty certain it would be barely audible outside of a tank.

The reason I find the sound of the shell casing ejecting from the breech acceptable, is I shall never forget the face of my Grandson the first time he heard it, "MAGICAL".
We all enjoy this hobby for the realism in miniature we manage to capture, but sometimes there is a need to over emphasise certain aspects of the build to highlight what would otherwise be missed,
The non sound of a rotating Tiger 1 Turret might be a true reflection of what really occurs but I don't think I am alone in thinking that we expect the turret when turning to make a noise.
Aren't human beings odd?

Shoot, the turret motor on my Pershing is louder than the traverse sound. I might need to look into that... lol
