Hi All,

I was thinking of doing a Sig 33b with my Pz III but I've decided to do an Austf.M with full schurzen.
I'm going to try and do this build in a more logical fashion than my usual efforts so my Pz III is now in pieces and I've made a start on the hull.

All the moulded on tools etc have been removed from the fenders. I wasn't bothered about damage at this point as I'm going to fit the correct pattern diamond plate and metal tools.

I also removed the air intakes ready for replacement.

Out came the Mr Surfacer 500 and the whole thing was given a light textured finish.

The next jobs will be adding the diamond plate to the fenders and the dreaded weld seams to the hull.

More pics soon
Cheers
John

Nice one John. What did you use to roughen the surface - Mr Surfacer or your own secret concoction? It looks very effective.

Cheers

Thanks for the comments lads.  ;D

Chris, yes that's Mr Surfacer 500. For some reason my camera
makes it look pink even though it's light blue.  ???

I've got a few pieces of tread plate for the fenders to do today
and I think I'll do the air intake boxes aswell.

More pics later.
Cheers
John

Where do you get the tread plate from? - i've left the moulded tools alone on my Pz 3 and 4 because of the risk of ruining the moulded pattern.

Hi Tankie,

I got the tread plate from my local hobby store that has a large model railway section. Before the 'rivet counters' dive in, I know it's not strictly to scale but it looks a lot better than the existing HL offering.

Here's a pic

Also got some weld seams done

Going to have a go at scratch building the air intake boxes tomorrow.

VERY impressive work John. The tread plate looks the biz as well as the surface texture and welds I will have to watch this build and nick all your tips. All the best for now
