Help needed for Heng Long Tiger I tank not turning right wh

Hi,
I purchased a Heng Long Tiger I tank last Christmas for my son who was tank-mad at the time and desperate for an RC tank. I went for the upgraded tank with metal tracks and gears. For reasons beyond me, my son didn't take to the tank and didn't even run down the first battery charge before the tank just sat collecting dust. I've always hoped he'd get back into it, but we've come to the conclusion to sell it.

I've just charged it up and tried a test run before selling, and there seems to be a problem. The tank turns left and right (without going forward) just fine, and reverses fine. However, going forward it seems a little slower than in reverse (seem to remember if being quite quick before). It will turn left going forward, but will not turn right. I've tried adjusting the trim controls on the remote control but that hasn't helped.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, and how I can fix it? Thanks, Mark

How long has the tank been sitting?...You might want to check the idlers for binding...as well as the tracks....The gearboxes might be gummed up so you might also want to clean those

But if you are going to sell it anyway...just list it honestly...and let the buyer worry about it ...if it's an enthusiast he will probably change out several of the working components anyway

It will be the gearbox for sure. That is exactly how they breakdown. If you open it up you probably will find that the post on the top of the right gearbox is loose and out of the bushing letting the gears spin when under max power to the right and going forward it is just slipping as you go making it slower. I had this exact problem on a Sherman I had before I replaced the gearboxes. Hopefully that's it because that is a simple fix just realign the box and gears and tighten everything down. A little loktite never hurts...
