Kiaser,
I'v built the T55A not a bad kit but some areas of the kit are a bit should I say a bit off. There's a lot of miss molded parts! At least in the kit I got. Not seen a brack down of the tiger P. Brian...

Hooben elefants ok, from a parts point of view it was pretty much spot on. However I think it's let down on the mechanical side, it looses pins very easily from its tracks and to get the suspension working properly requires some hefty modifications.

I used Nigel's Elefant yesterday at tankmod for battling and it handles very well - not very grippy tracks on grass and a few pins popped out but was a lot of fun.

Definitely easier to mod but the metal ones mechanically much better

Mechanics can always be improved ...don't like the white metal compounds they use...in time they deteriorate and or weaken...at least plastic can be reinforced with metal you pretty much have to trash it once it falls apart ....If they used aluminum sheet on the metal versions they would be much sounder ..IMO that is

I have the Hooban elefant kit as well. I haven't built it yet but the parts and such look ok. I have heard people have had issues with the kit with the suspension and tracks. I guess I should say that they are not really Hooban kits any more as mine says Ark Model on it and not Hooban

Ark Models own the Hooben brand name as well as several other model brands

The Metal suspension is just as bad...the problem is how the companies chose to replicate the design that came from the real thing so to say...Most of the Problem comes from the elbow joint....the retaining tabs is the weakness...on both the metal and plastic versions they put a heavy spring....which puts too much stress on the retaining tabs with the mounting holes in it....on both they are very thin in that area...The weight and movement make them weak...till it gets to the point where they snap...It's the downfall of either metal or the Hooben....the difference being with the Hooben you can reinforce that joint while you assemble it...it's plastic so will take to additional bonding in that area....the metal one you can't
