Hi Guys
Just a quickie question..whats the name of that lube most ppl seem to be using on their gears now..the motor cycle stuff!!, This should be fine for Tamiya gears right??? and was thinking of using it on my drone too as I burnt out 2 motors in past week!
Thanks
Jake

Yup that's it. Not sure about your Tamiya sorry, but I've used it on my Taigen steel gearboxes with no problems. I made covers for them so no excess would sling all over the insides of my tanks.

Not sure about the motorcycle stuff, but I always use Lubriplate white lithium grease on my GBs. It sticks well, lubricates like a champ, and you can tell by the color when it's time for some maintenance.
Like you, Jackalope, I make shields to prevent splatter, and I have a pretty simple system that I call the "down and dirty splatter shield". I'll see if I can find the video for those, but it's basically just two 1" strips of thin sheet styrene and if you do it right they stay in place and work great.

I've used many different lubes including motorcycle and bicycle chain lube. Also tried Red and Tacky grease. I've always come back to the White Lithium grease. I buy the grease, not the spray and it works very well on my Taigen and Tamiya gear boxes.

Jake, Hi, I go along with Gary and Joe and use White Lithium Grease although the Wax lubricant used on motorcycle chains is a good splatter free alternative.
What the BRIGADIER

always points out is that some lubricants are damaging to Tank gearboxes so do take care.

Joe They are identical. feel free to make your order although if you have a Halfords or similar auto factor near you I would pop round and buy a tub of White Lithium Grease,
Cheaper and as good plus you would be supporting local shops!
