Converting an old Tam KT to dual gearboxes?

Has anyone done this and is it a straightforward job? I can do the turret rotation/elevation/recoil, but is there anything to be wary of when fitting newer gearboxes to replace the single motor set up on the original?

Using the Tamiya boxes, yes, it's pretty simple to do. Might involve a little drilling but that's all.

Many thanks, I may be able to get one cheap, so it might be worthwhile.

It would have to be dirt cheap to make me consider doing it. I converted a static, which is much the same thing into an FO and didn't really enjoy it that much.

Hi mate I converted a static Tam KT into a Full IR battler one using HL boxes and turret gear with a servo recoil only hard part I found was the building of elevation mounts from scratch due to the turret being a empty shell.
The static sprockets will not match so you need a set of tracks and matching sprockets for your gear boxes, the rest came out of my scrap/spares boxes.
Best of luck on your build
