Hi . Ive been working on my tiger 1  As Im no good at electronics I fitted a seperate battery to power the convoy light via a simple on/off switch , which is placed in easy reach of one of the front opening hatches . First of I removed the incorect one and then tryed to fit a blue LED in the correct one after altering it , but this wasnt very bright ( probaly like me ) . I then used a normal LED with a blue transparent cover over it this seemed better .I only used one LED . Any comments or advice please.

sounds like a good idea to me, but could it not be connected to the smoker socket if you choose to remove the smoker on the RX 18 board or soldered on to the RX 13 board where the main power connections are made from the battery so that it is switched on and off with the tanks main power switch or the rx 14 option is to use the spare socket where the Bulldog and Pershing rear red lights lights plug in.

Yer may be Im not up on electronics so dont like to mess with what I dont know about but it sounds a good idea.

is the convoy light definatley blue? I ask as I am going to dom the same on mine I think, or at least have a pop at it

Yep they were blue. Why not connect the light into the lighting loom in the hull? Just a +/- spliced in and you are away. I disconnected the front lights on mine and installed two red high intensity bulbs in the exhausts (with resistors) so that I could still see whether the power was on or off.

The lights run off the blue/white wires on the 8 pin socket if you want to connect them directly to the plug.

hmm now you have me thinking, I think I may have a blue LED knocking around I'll have to have a rummage through one of the many bits boxes... cheers for the idea Wibbly

I used a blue LED but ran it from an independent battery . It was'nt bright enougth so I used a clear LED and put a piece of blue transparent plasic in front of the convoy light . This worked for me . But I suppose if you run it from your board a blue LED may be ok ?

dunno about running it from the board, I was thinking of putting it into the loom for the front lights, and getting power through their, not up on the boards, dunno what is for what so I wont mess with it. will see if a blue one works ok, if not I'll use a white like you have and put in a coloured lense.
