Stopped by the Hobby shop on the way home yesterday for some semi-gloss clear for my KT ,don't like it as flat as it is it looks like the colors are washed out hopefully a little semi-gloss will bring them back up a little. Anyway got to talking to some older gentlemen there about some of their work that was on display and I mentioned my KT. Well they work in 1/35 scale so when I told them my KT was 1/16 they replied "oh a child's toy, didn't know anyone made a KT for children to play with". I chuckled a little and got out my phone and showed them pics of it to which they were stunned. Said my work looked better then anyone in their club and asked if I'd mind giving a class on weathering and air brushing. Now the's guys were old enough to be my grandfather and they're work looked amazing to me but they kept telling me that my KT was the best they'd ever seen, I laughed and told them they must not have seen much then and told them of this place and the astounding work you guys do. They said they'd have to check it out as they couldn't believe anyone's work could be better.

So now it seems I have to teach weathering with chalks, washes, and air brushing to a room full of grandparents! Not to mention my KT has a date to be poked and prodded and drooled on by these guys. I'll try to get some pics of there stuff if I get a chance to go to their meet.

Well done ! How cool is that........I've got a couple of tigers, but won't risk trying to weather them due to me not sure on what I'm doing ! Your classes would be so beneficial for guys like me

That there is a nice new Chapter in your adventure in RC tankery....Why I remember it wasn't too long ago we were giving you advice on what tank to get...and how you got that great deal....you should write a book

PS..you've never used chalks and pastels? ...there's a cool video on youtube...will post it if I find it...put it here before...a girl was weathering tanks...great job of it too....using soft make up brushes

Ed, Chalk and a nice big brush are great because you can apply as much as you want till you get the look you want and if you mess up just wash it off and start over! Once you get the look you want you spray on clearcoat to seal the chalk making it permanent. Arts and crafts stores sell nice sets that have a wide variety of colors usually light yellow to very dark red will be in one pack, where white to black will be another, same for green colors from very light to almost black. I only ever use the yellow to very dark red pack as it does all the colors of dust and dirt very well.

Take the chalk and rub it on sandpaper, once you get a pile of chalk dust take your brush and dab it bristles straight down into the chalk dust. Then just brush the chalk on the model where you want/think the dirt and dust would be.
