I came across this product on one of the many excellent painting tutorials on U-Tube. I'm sure many of you are already familiar with it, but it was new to me and is called "Panzer Putty." The product description and demonstration suggest it's easy to use (at least in the hands of the expert doing the demo) and produces what seemed to be very sharp, distinct color separation for hard edge camouflage schemes. The product demo suggests it is a substitute to Blu-Tac and "silly putty" type products, but which acts in a different way. I take that to mean it does not leave the slight residue on the paint that some have said these other products might leave if left on for a time (a statement I can't comment on either way). I had just used blue 3M painters tape and an xacto knife, cut the tape on a mirror so the tape would still be sticky, slapped it on my Tiger and hit it with my my airbrush.

There used to be a product called "MAGIC MASKER"...very similar to that Panzer stuff...never liked it....silly putty or play dough ..even clay works better IMO
Blue or Green painters tape works great too ..just as Jack said

Just an added note PANZER....depending on what paint you are using...if you want hard edges... a plain ol Brush will work as well...Tamiya acrylics are pretty good about not leaving stroke marks

I used silly putty last time. Bluetac is too sticky whereas silly putty doesn't actually stick to the model. It's very weird to use but never had aproblem with it.

I like silly putty too...best thing is you can reshape and reuse the stuff

I would not use Tamiya acrylics with a brush, even heavily thinned. They're really meant for airbrushing. The AK and Mig Ammo range are far better brush paints .

Agreed, Tamiya acrylics really struggle with coverage neat, let alone diluted.

Really....takes a different kind of skill to use a brush...it's the reason I went back to it for awhile...certain Tamiyas yes...like the clears I would never use a brush ...except on tail / marker lights ..perhaps lenses ....but there was a time when Tamiyas were more available here....I'd use a brush for application all the time...especially on figures...now...since I am more practiced with a brush...I have to admit...I have no problem with just about any brand with a brush

Sure you can use them but your finish will not be as good for the amount of effort required. They're not meant to be used as brush paints.
