Rx 18 Heng long vs Torro for smoker question

Quick question...I tried using a proportional smoker worked fine on Taigen and Heng Longs with Rx 18/Benedini but
not on Torro KT. I heard that the board is slightly different on Torro? I assume I can just swap out the Torro and Replace
with HL Rx-18? Reason is looking to try the TARRII and want it to work well in KT. Thanks Tom

Is your KT a 2.4 gig radio set up? If so that's your problem. The 2.4 gig receiver doesn't put out the same power as the old RX-18. The TARR smoker works fantastic with the IBU2 set up but not much better then the stock smoker with the RX-18 and I've never tried a TARR smoker with a 2.4 set up. I believe you could wire the TARR unit so it has straight battery power for the heating element and would use the power from the RX-18 or 2.4 gig set up to run the fan. Not sure if this would make it proportional or not but I know would smoke pretty good! You'd want to add an on/off switch for the heating element if you wire it directly to the battery.
Just to let you know if you did upgrade to an IBU2 set up the TARR smoker works AWESOME and is not only proportional but it can be dialed in to make the smoker behave just the way you want it to. In other words 100% power at start up to make a nice big PUFF and then back off to 20% at idle and step up to however you want it to be depending on how much smoke you like.
Also if possible try a smoke fluid called "MEGA STEAM", the stuff is AWESOME! Trust me you'll love it!

Great information! Was the older radio set up but now using (Dan's battle armor set up) DXi6 radio the DBC 3 and Bendedini I had a supersmoker proportional that worked pretty well on a Taigen Tiger I (Same set up as above) but the Torro KT not much.
So I did what you said and plugged right into battery with a switch..tons of smoke..too much so just
added two diodes to cut the voltage..works great but not proportional. Sooo I was thinking if not for the KT
maybe the Taigen Tiger try the TARR with my current set up? Which I think is basically the RX 18 as would
be on a stock unit. Thanks!! Tom

How do you set the IBUPro to do that? Is it via a command line in the ini.file?

I'm using the Tar MKI smoker in my Torro KT with the stock Taigen electronics, it works fine. I have six MKI smokers. They are installed in six of my Taigen or Torro tanks. Some are on the stock 2.4 GHZ Taigen electronics and some are on the IBU2. If you haven't tried JT's Mega Steam smoke fluid yet, you might want to give it a try.
