Recommended Tank Flick

On the Forth of July weekend...on the AMC network...(where they were honoring veterans)...there was a movie that caught my interest...it is a semi plotted documentary / military propaganda type movie ....the title..."THE TANKS ARE COMING"...made in 1951...there is a lot of great footage of American armor...mostly Shermans...Towards the end a Pershing
Now for those who enjoyed "FURY"....this is where the general plot for that flick came from...there is a 10 minute segment in it that is just about the whole shebang the "FURY" was
All in all...(as I tuned in out of curiosity )...it was a grand adventure...and I watched the entire movie...so if by chance you have netflix or something similar to where you can stream it...(as I couldn't on YouTube)...or better yet buy the DVD... I would Highly recommend it
It's a way better watch than "FURY"
This little factoid might be of interest to Painless...the main character "Sgt Sullivan"...is supposed to be mimicking the accolades of one "Lafayette Pool"
Happy Tanking Gents

Alpha,
That is a great movie! I have it in my collection and I agree, heavy touches of a St. Sgt. Pool in it. ;o)

Painless

Admittedly Painless...Not only was this the first time I had seen the movie...but tuned in with a bit of skepticism...it starting out like a docudrama and all...but darn if it didn't keep me in my seat...watched and laughed when I saw the segment with the "FURY" sequence ....and found it interesting as they introduced "IKE" as a mechanic apprentice first class...and how he was instrumental in getting the "FIRST"...Heavy (Pershing) into the field ...the rest of the movie ...though very propaganda like was just the gravy to a fine serving of military entertainment
Is it coincidental that you built most of the armor in this movie?...Subliminally Maybe EH

Alpha,
That is funny now that you mention it. I've built two Shermans, one of them, Pool's last tank and a stock Pershing when most folks are building Super 'P's along with a late war Panther G. *chuckles* Subliminal much?

Painless

LOL...Could have been more subliminal if you bought Fynsdad's Shermiedozer ...and set some dragon's teeth you your yard
That was a great sequence ...unmistakable "GUNG HO!" "GO FOR BROKE" propaganda stuff
