I have a little spare cash and was looking at possibly getting the Mato metal Stug III, has anyone got one? What's it like? Does it come with IR and recoil?

Greetings Fluke....If you like that particular version of the Stug...get it...it's a nice replica ...a lot of moving details...The only major suggestion...equip it with your own choice of internals IE: gearboxes and electricals :D
As far as I know...all Plastic versions of the Stug are IR...so outfitting yours shouldn't be a problem as parts should be easily acquired and installed

Good Luck

Happy Tanking

PS. Reason I said "If you like that version"....Because it is made of metal...major alterations would be tricky IE: Painless Wolfs Current Stug Build ...

Also no...I don't own the metal version...but I do own two Plastic ..one Heng Long and one Taigen both are going through similar conversions as Painless Wolf's

Thanks for the reply. The cheapest I have found so far is from RCTank in Germany at 480 Euros (£333.00), is there anywhere cheaper? I plan on putting in all my own electrics including and IBU2.

You can get several versions of it, with recoil and IR and no motors or ESC, with BB and no motors or ESC or you can get them with either option and with motors, ESC and smoke. There's several eBay sellers with them, a couple of them quite reputable.

I looked at getting the PzIII version a while back but never got round to buying one.

Just an added note Fluke....as Bill has stated there are many models of the same variant available...the major difference between the Mato lower hull and the Taigen "metal" lower hull...is that the Mato is exactly like the Heng Long and Taigen "Plastic" versions...where both banks of road wheels are symmetrical ...the Taigen "Metal" lower use torsion style suspension...so both banks of road wheels are not ..in other words ...one side sits slightly behind the other
Had a discussion with a few other modellers about the subject...it's hard to determine which is truly correct...especially since photographs do not really reflect the difference....The discussion went ..that because the Germans "did" use torsion suspension that it would be logical for the suspension arms to be off set ...the other side is that though that is true...if you look at Volkswagens and Porsches ...which use torsion suspension ...the arms are symmetrical
The issue did bother me...but not to the point of not using the Taigen Lower...it's a tad harder to fine tune as well...When I do think back ... I should have went with the Mato..Both have similar features with the exception of plastic side panels and an aluminum hull on the Taigen ...But for some reason in my mind ..Mato.. is a much better platform ;)

As far as pricing goes...I imagine you are in Europe somewhere...I would recommend trying to see what Forgebear (Dave..is a member of the board) can do for you...he is a Mato Rep :D

Again Good Luck

PS.. Something fun about the Mato Stug is that every hatch ..even the rear engine lids are functional...and the track tensioning system is already installed..so no track problems :D
