Hi,

Looking to get a 5:1 metal gearbox for my heng long tiger one. I hear bad things about the black geared multi geared box. So which one do you guys recomend?

Not sure what one you've heard bad things about but I'm running the 4.1 black hardened steel gearboxes in my tanks and have never had any issues with them at all. In fact my King Tiger is like 10 months old and has had them in it almost since day 1 and they're still perfect. My King Tiger weighs in at 19 pounds since I rebuilt it and the gearboxes still work great. As much as I run this tank they must have at least 10 real miles on them and they still look new.

Where have you been hearing bad things? I've never had an issue with them and I don't know anyone else has either.

The black ones are the good ones.

Cant remember the forum now but was looking into gearbox's for my stug iii at the time. The review was of 2 gearbox's that could be changed from a 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1. They said within a day they have damaged teeth on the black steel version and the brass version was recomended.

If you guys arent seeing any issues, I will get the black steel version as they are on ebay and easy to get hold of as a result.

hi you mean the walterson gears they had a problem with the drive shafts but the later ones have steel shafts now

Mike I've had the new generation Taigen 5-1 boxs for a few weeks now and there great no probs at all
